World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is an important moment for the whole world to celebrate the beauty of nature and raise awareness of the importance of protecting our environment. As climate change becomes more pronounced and environmental issues become more complex, this commemoration is a call for all of us to act collectively for the future of the planet.
One of the biggest issues facing our planet today is the lack of animal conservation efforts. World Environment Day reminds us of the need to balance ecosystems to keep the climate favorable and the lives of creatures on earth secure in the long run.
Bali Safari’s Pig-snouted Tortoise was flown to Timika, Papua in collaboration with BKSDA. The Pig-snouted Tortoise Phase V was successfully carried out during the commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5.
There were 60 pig-snouted turtles translocated in 15 boxes. Previously, the Bali KSDA Center had sent a total of 220 turtles consisting of:
* (phase I) 40 turtles (10 boxes)
* (stage II) 60 heads (15 boxes)
* (stage III) 60 tails (15 boxes)
* (stage IV) 60 turtles (15 boxes).
Phase V of the pig-snouted turtle translocation was transported using Airfast aircraft facilitated by PT Freeport Indonesia through Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai international airport. The Phase V pig-snouted turtles will depart today, June 5, 2023 at 08.00 am.
World Environment Day is a call to action. Let’s make every day an environment day. Together, we can protect our planet, preserve biodiversity, and pass on a better planet to future generations.
